PORTRAIT

The portrait, the oldest type of photography par excellence and that gives, above all, meaning to it. Being a highly creative type of photography, it is both challenging. It’s amazing how a person’s look can change depending on the position of the arms, the height of the camera or the color grading you do after the photo.

I have been lucky enough to take portraits in very diverse situations, from political campaigns to chefs, or a truck driver. My goal in portraits is to be able to capture the person’s personality as reliably as possible, to know how to calm the person down before taking the photo and to be able to convey their strength. I think staging is as important as knowing how to see the strengths and weaknesses of the person you are going to photograph.

As with painting, each photo has a message and in the case of portraits you have to be clear about what message you want to give before pressing the button.
